Nobody plans to be homeless.

In Los Angeles County, there are over 15,700 people living in their vehicles each night.

These vehicle dwellers represent over 25% of the population of people experiencing homelessness in LA County.

Safe Parking is a Free 12 hour night time parking program for people who are living in their vehicles. A security guard and a restroom at a minimum are provided. Fill out the 2 forms provided or call 213-793-8493.

For Marine Corps veteran Lawrence McCue, 75, and his wife Carla, 62, the unthinkable became a reality when they realized their incomes were unable to keep pace with the rising costs of life in Los Angeles.

As Lawrence struggled with increasing health problems, the couple was forced to move into a motorhome to keep a roof over their heads.

Parked outside a rental car location near LAX, the RV provided a safe place for Lawrence, Carla and their dog, Oreo, that still felt a little bit like home.

But faced with repairs they couldn't afford that would make the vehicle smog-compliant, the mobile home was towed away and the couple found themselves living out of their car.

Safe Parking LA is committed to providing secure and humane conditions for our neighbors, like the McCues, who are dwelling in their vehicles while experiencing homelessness.

LA's homeless population increased by 43% between 2010 and 2017 with a surge in the numbers of people over 62 years old.

The rising number of senior citizens forced to live in their cars signals increased health and safety risks for an already vulnerable population.

Getting our patrons off the streets and into a safely monitored lot is our goal, and for people like the McCues, that first step can make all the difference.

In August 2018, after two years of living in their car, Lawrence and Carla McCue finally picked up the keys to their very own apartment.
